I've got an '02 C240 and recently, when it's been pretty cold out and the car hasn't run in a few days, it doesn't shift out of 1st gear once the car is in drive. Like I said, it's not a regular occurence but enough to be annoying. I was just wondering if anyone had any idea what the problem may be. The thing is that if this does happen where it won't shift and i put it in park, turn the car off and then turn it back on immediately, it'll run fine. Thanks for the help.

 

I had same thing, but I think it is normal. When it gets cold out there , car takes a while before it shifts automatically to 2nd gear. I assume coz car takes a while to warm up. Try out one thing. Start the ignition in Park and sit for a while to allow the car to warm up then start driving. So that it gets warmed up enuf

 

Mines does this when the engines cold. Once its warmed up abit it should go back to normal gear changing. Is this the case with yours??
