I also have this problem I have a 2003 with 70000 miles. The chec engine light came on so I took it to the dealer. After a few hours they came back and said that the valves were carboned up and it was leaking compression through the valve. The symptoms are rough idle at a stop, the way to stop the rough idle is to turn the engine off ad start it again. A pain in the but. I was told by the dealer that it would about $2600 to rebuild the head. I have not taken it to get fixed yet but I will soon. If anyone else has this problem I would like to hear from you.

He really didnt say which years were effected....just that he has seen more and more with less than 30,000 miles on them and carbon buildup was present. But in any case, it shouldnt have happened.

so my next question would be what valves did or will they replace them with? do you have the part numbers from your service ticket and can you post them? i know a machinist that makes racng parts maybe i can get him to see what he can do and do a group buy for c230 owners to save on cost and bring our own parts in if its past warranty.
thanks

oohhhh. my engine light just came on today too. I have an 05 Kompressor manual with 38,000 miles. I also noticed my passenger airbag light came on, saying it was turned off. I didn't place anything near the armrest to deactivate it, so I thought it was weird. So anyways, the problem is basically weak valve springs due to carbon build up? thanks!
