Default C230 kompressor...oil change

I have a 2004 c230 kompressor sport sedan and have currently logged on 2000 miles. Should I wait to change the oil when the flex schedule (usually around 10,000 miles) tells me to do so or should i take it in earlier around 5000 miles ? And is it safe to change the oil at around 10,000 mile? Any input or opinion is gladly accepted. Thanks</P>

My thoughts are that it wouldn't hurt to change oil and filter early, esp. with new engines "running in" and creating deposits. It would also depend on the type of oil. Fully synthetic (Mobil 1 etc.) gives greater range between oil changes than ordinary mineral oil.</P>

Just wait for the FSS, there is no need to spend the extra money. Every Mercedes rolls out the factorywith Mobil 1 full synthetic, theplace I used to have my car serviced at uses Pennzoil (fully synthetic),but itis approved by Mercedes-Benz. Mercedes also approves brands like Catrol and Shell. All vehicles with FSSneedssynthetic oil. <edited><editID>MioCLK</editID><editDate>38061.0471180556</editDate></edited>

I wouldn't chance messin' up the FSS program by changing the oil yourself,,,besides, the dealer will do it for free durning the free service period, which I think, is 4 years 40K miles (anyone correct me if I'm wrong). <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0">

4 years / 50,000 miles whichever comes first. </P>

There is no problem changing your own oil, just that it cost money out of your own pocket. And remember to use SYNTHETIC OIL only, no matter what kind of engine it is. If it got FSS, it gotta have synthetic. </P>

What the.... when did they delete the "free 4 year service" plan on the Merc? This is the main reason why i even buy a MB.. Glad i own a 2002.

Is this true for all 05 models?

I just has my 1st dealer inspection at 2,000 mi.... I was wondering about the oil change recommendations from the dealer. They said the car has "wrenches" that monitor contaminants in the oil and will notify the driver when it needs to be changed--- approx 10,000 mi. This seems excessive... so I ask how much for an oil change. $250.

WHAAAATTT?!?! I use mobile 1 in all my cars/motorcycles and this seems nutz.
Anyone else hear similar stories?
