Anyone want to share how long their front pads/rotors lasted on their C230? My car is an '05 C230k sport. I tend to drive and brake hard and drive mostly in city. I have about 28k miles and I suspect front pads or rotors are pretty worn because car is making low groan under braking while coming to a stop. Also, what do the cross drilled sport rotors cost (I'm afraid to ask). Thanks

I have the same year car. Longevity of the pads varies greatly depending on how you drive, but from what you said, that doesn't sound
out of the norm. Rotors are soft on these cars and are made to be replaced with pads. The rotors on your car are around a hundred bucks
plus or minus depending on where you buy them. There are lots of different pads if you don't want to go the factory pad route. I have tried
others. There is only one brake pad wear sensor on your car, and it's on the right front pad, because the fronts always wear out before the
rears. It's a 7-10 dollar item. When it comes to brakes, I don't cut corners. Too important especially these days.

I recommend cross drilled rotors on any vehicle, including my wife's minivan. Tests have shown that air cooled/crossdrilled rotors operate sometimes 300degF cooler than the same non-drilled rotors.I suppose it is a known fact, butI have verified this with infrared and also heat indicators on a few of my own cars. Now I hate the thought of my brake pads, seals, and fluid roasting under hard braking. Crossdrilled rotors should be standard on every car today. The only disadvantages are cost and the slight howl they make during braking.
