RE: c230 battery problem
i will tell the service to change the battery from warranty. By the way, I have been starting the car once a week for the last month and taking an hour ride. Can that be another reason for the drain?

RE: c230 battery problem
newbie... sleepwalker. what is a CAN? Where do I find it? How do I check this? You mentioned that previously ( for checking to see who the consumer was ) draining the battery. I bought a 84 300 TD.. left Sarasota Fl driving to Delaware on Wednesday evening around 6PM. The lights, radio a/c all went dead at about 4:30am. Car never shut down. ( had a nissan alternator went bad car evently shut down ) Got to Delaware. bought new battery. Started the Drive back to Sarasota around 1:30AM. The lights and everything went dead again in the D.C. area; I parked the car left it running, waited till day break and continued the trip back to Florida.
I did the jump the car and remove the cable from the battery test. The car continued to run. Or should I have turned the lights etc on while doing that test?

ORIGINAL: sleepwalker
battery drain was the cause.
the doesn't come into a "sleep mode" after few minutes, and continue to consume power.
the problem varies, but mostly was related to CAN (controllers area network) problem.
according to my experience, the faulty parts that continue to wake up other components are: EIS (electronic ignition switch), UCP (upper control panel), OCP (overhead control panel), interior motion sensor, ATA (anti theft alarm), and the rest are very rare.
there's a good trick in finding the current consumer... removing the fuse or detaching the CAN.
attach ammeter parallel to the battery and observe the current during sleep mode. it must not be more than 0.4 amperes.
