Ok, wonder if I can ask for some thoughts from some of you please...

Im a long standing owner of 5 series BMW's. All be it always older ones.
My most recent is a 523i (2000 reg) and am currently looking to buy a 530D (up to 2002/3 reg) as I only like the older shape with angel eyes.

Then I saw the C220/C270 and liked the look. For my budget of £4k-£5k I should still be able to find one.
The shape I like is the 2000/2007 sedan

If poss an auto diesel as I do a little driving job for 4hours every morning covering a total of 300miles per week. Thats also stopping about fifteen times a day to drop off things

Wondering what sort of MPG the Mercs do and any thoughts people might have comparing them to a BMW 530D which would do about 40mpg combined.

Also noise wise, as inside the cabin of the 530D is a tad noisy! :-)

And anything I should look out for on the Mercs that indicate issues.
