C200 Kompressor sports/evolution
Hi,
Firstly, I'm in Australia, but I think the models are the same. I'm about to buy a C200 Kompressor Coupe. Essentially I have a choice between a pre-October 2002 (actually plated Oct 2001) Evolution 2.0L, or a post-October 2002 Sports VVT Intercooled 1.8L (well that's what the ad says). I currently have a 1996 C200 Esprite which I will be off loading soon.
Apart from spoofy floor mats and racing foot pedals, I cannot seem to see any difference between the Evolution and the Sports. In the (local) redbook guide, the description of standard and optional inclusions is identical. Both are optioned with electric sun roof and leather seats. I'm inclined to go for the post-October 2002 Sports (MY2003) with the 1.8 VVT Intercooled engine. It has 76,000Km as opposed to the earlier model with only 45,000Km, but the earlier car has a compliance plate of 2001, ie. it is considered a 2001 car for resale purposes.
The later model Sports is about $2K cheaper than the earlier Evolution.
My question in a nutshell, what does the Evolution offer over the Sports?
Although I think my mind is essentially made up unless the Evolution offers something so substantially better than the Sports, which one would you guys go for (and why)??
Thanks,
Kevin
