Well I am an import guy at heart (love my tuner hondas), but i want to move to a nice 4 door sedan to work on next. I had a Lexus IS300 that I had lowered on 20's and am looking to do the same kinda thing with a nice C-class. I have owned an ML430 which was not bad, but I really want a C-Class to drop on 20's now.

Question is, for the money, what is the best C-Class to get? I dont want anything too expensive, I have been seeing C230 and C320 going for around $15k for a 2001 or 2002. I either want White with Tan leather or Black on Black. I would just like your opinion on which to get and why. I really appreciate your help guys. Hopefully i'll be on here abit more after I make the purchase. Thanks again

 

As a former import guy myself (Honda's as well) I don't think you'll be happy with the early model C's. Those were the ones that were prone to little "thorn in the side" issues. If you're set on buying thenI'd recommend the C320 over the C230 because going from an IS300 to the C230 is like going from a BB6 Prelude to a Civic. Not to mention I find thetip-in lag of the supercharged C230very annoying. You should go test drive both cars to see if they suit your needs.White would be my choice but I'm a little biased.

 

Yeah Im just not sure, I havnt driven one yet since we dont even have a Benz dealer in town anymore.

my plans for the vehicle are as follows: 20" wheels, lower, simple lip kit, custom interiorand stereo/video. This car will be a demo car for our shopand for an audio line that we are a distributor for.

im not really looking for speed, but just somthing alittle different that I can do for under 20k im guessing since the stereo/video is free basically.

I was also looking at a 00ish CLK and an E-Class, but for some reason that C-Class sedan gets me. I dont want the supercharged one so probably the C320?

I say no speed for now but having a dyno in the shop and access to alot of parts i'll probably end up putting spray or somthing stupid on it! lol

 

Make sure you test drive the car. I remember when I wanted a C230 because of the way it looked. The test drive pretty much told me I was going to be very unhappy if I bought one.

I would usually say no to 20" wheels but you're adding a body kit so it'll compliment the car. Spray, LOL! Put it up on the dyno and tell us the results. [sm=drlove.gif]

 

So besides it being abit slow, its an overall good car? Is there alot of problems with these? 01-03 is what im looking at.

 

The 01-03 models are probably the most troublesome.

And also what model should I look at? C230 or C320? Which is the supercharged one?

 

c230 2002-2005 4cyl supercharge 2006 6 cyl the c320 is a 6cyl

 

The problems are primarily little annoying ones. Electrical problems and other glitches.

The W210 E-Class '01-02 are pretty solid since those are the final production years of that chassis. They pretty much have the bugs worked out. The E430 Sport might be a good choice for you.
