Default A/C Blower Question

I have a '98 C280. I go to turn on the A/C and nothing blows out of the vents. You can hear the system engage(turn on) but nothing blows out anywhere defrosters/front/foot. The belt of course is fine, and the fuse is fine. What else would the problem be and no I am not a car expert so please elaborate. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to spend $500 getting it looked over at the dealership or by some dumb*@#! at the local gas station. I trust you guys so please let me know.

I have the same problem with my 1997 C280. The funny thing is this problem only occurs when it is extremely hot outside...HAHAA Hows that for irony.

Well i brought it in to the dealership and they said it could be the blower motor or regulator...$300-400 in repairs so i decided not to get it done bc it still works most of the time

hope u get some more definite answers bc i had the same problem

if only fuse, maybe $2 to free.

if motor, maybe $300-$400.

if regulator, around $200-$300.

Just FYI... If you pull the blower motor out, you can do a couple of simple tests. First, pull the red and blue wires off the motor. Connect 12V to the tab where the red wire was. Connect Ground to the tab where the blue wire was. If the motor spins, it's OK. It may need to have debris blown out with compressed air; it may need some oil on the shaft bearing (opposite end from the fan blades.) Now re-connect the red and blue wires.

Now look at the connector coming from the blower motor plugs into the connector in the car. the pins are 1 - upper left, 2 - lower left, 3 - upper right and 4 - lower right. Pin 1 is ground. Measure with a voltmeter from pin 1 to pin 2. You should get +12V on pin 2 at all times. Pin 3 is the speed signal. Measuring from pin 1 to pin 3, you should see a voltage between 0V and 6V, depending on the setting of the fan switch. These readings are taken with the Heat or A/C running (car must be on and/or running) I'm not sure about pin 4; I've read that it should have +12V when the ignition switch is in Run and 0v when it's OFF. I looked at wiring diagrams and they contradict the idea of pin 3 being wired to the ignition switch, so I'm confused on that point.
