RE: C 250 TD
That is a European model, yes? I'm not sure how successfull you'll be getting advice with that model since, from what I can tell, most who post here are from the US and Canada. Europeans do post, but not as frequently. Good luck and welcome.

I don't know where you live but in my stste you have to have a CSC (certificate of state compliance) for any car that is not a US model.
If it was imported prpperly it will have a OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) sticker on the inside of the right rear trunk lid behind the insulation.
Check with your state DMV This is from my state DMV book.
Imported motor vehicles are subject to U.S. safety standards, bumper standards, and air pollution control (emission) standards. Most vehicles manufactured abroad that conform with U.S. safety, bumper, and emission standards are exported expressly for sale in the United States and have US model numbers; therefore, it is unlikely that a vehicle obtained abroad meets all relevant standards. Be skeptical of claims by a foreign and domestic dealer or other seller that a vehicle meets these standards or can readily be brought into compliance. Nonconforming vehicles entering the United States must be brought into compliance within 20 days, exported, or destroyed.
