Default C-230 Phone System

Does anyone know if there is another way to use the integrated phone system without buying the phone that Mercedes trys to sell you? I want to be able to use that system, but I dont want to use their phone, Are their special adapters or something? or maybe something with bluetooth? Your info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

wireless4mb.com is Mercedes, basically. I called my dealer (Holloway in Manchester) to get pricing on the hands-free kit. They referred my to AWS. But, AWS sells the phone cradle for all supported phones and a nifty new bluetooth kit -BUT - you have to have the hands-free kit installed first.

I've got the Argos solution on my upgrade list. Integrates Bluetooth with full address book and MCS/Command/Radio integration without needing the hands-free kit from Mercedes first.

Faus, thanks for your input. Can yo uexplain more in detail as to what your talking about. When I called up mercedes they said the only way to use their system (integrated phone) was to buy their ohine and pay like $3000. or the other way was to pay like 1300 for the blue tooth kit which they would install. from what i undeertand this kit comes with its own microphone and speaker.

cvez42, you can find most of the parts you need from Mikbox.com, one of forum sponsors. With Mikbox, you can integrate with most Motorola phones including V710 model.

??? Of course, the phone needs to be activated and have local/national plan in order to "talk" on the phone.

Thanks for the website!

I am curious to know if my car is already prewired for it? I have an 05 model. When I asked someone at Mercedes he said to install the phone sytem it would be like $3,000. For what? I thought all I have to do is plug in the phone and start using it!

Does anyone know what this would cost?

All Late MBs are Prewired for a Phone ..all you must add is a PSE/cradle/phone..
Try Steve at www.MBENZNL.com They offer a UHI kit that allows the use of SEVERAL different types of phones to be used with the Mercedes system...Then add a VA kit..aka hands free system that allows hands free use of radio/cd/nav/phone..
I Had it in my W203...it worked Great!

Mark,

What phone do you use and is installed for your 230? I tried Steve and am waiting to hear back on what I can do. Thanks.

PS- trying to get a clear picture, do you have the phone install in the center arm rest? and does it work fine with the radio controls and the controls on your steering wheel? Does it load up your phone directory on the center console display?

Thanks

Chris
