Default Brakes Squeal

When my wifes backs out her 2007 C230 in the driveway, the brakes squeal (which is imbarrasing considering the car). We do notice this happens more when it is cooler outside (live in Florida, so it doesn't get that cold here. She had to take the car in for the free tire check at the MB dealership today. They told her that the squeal is normal. So basically I am thinkingthat if I test drive all 2007 C230's on there lot, most will do the same. That is BS. I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee with 170k miles on it and it doesn't squeal. Any ideas to get this fixed or address correctly? Thanks in advance.

I suggest you try this approach with them - not us. FYI I live in S. California and my '06 goes backwards as quietly as it goes forwards.

Additionally stand outside the car when your wife backs down the driveway and try to locate the squeak....fronts, rears, emergency brake, etc.

What approach are you talking about? I wish ours car would go as quietly backwards as forwards. But I will do what you said about trying to locate the squeak.

Use the same logic on them as you did on us. Ask the Service Manager for a Salesman and tell them you want to test drive their new C230's and see if they squeak.

I got a better idea. Show up again this time with a Poster Board, a stick and a Sharpie.

Make the Service Writer reiterate his comment. Then write his exact words down on the poster board with the Sharpie..."All C230's Squeal in Reverse". The proceed to tape the stick on the back of the poster board. Then walk out in front of the Showroom door carrying you sign.

See how quickly your issue gets resolved.

I will say one thing first. I am very happy to know im not alone. I own a c230 2005 sedan and noticed after spending $1300 on new brakes and rotors my brakes squeal. They also squeal only in reverse and at all the wrong times. It is a problem i have addressed to my service adviser but till this day they still squeal . I was told to make them squeal while my service advisor rode with me but i haven't been able to do it. They didnt say it was normal but did say they have to hear it to fix it. I got my brakes done in March 2007 and now july 2007 and still squeal. I hope by now maybe you got to the bottom of this so you could help me. This is my first time on this forum and only registered because of this. So im hoping you are out there somewhere or anyone else can help me. THANK YOU.
