Default Brakes Issue

Hi All,
I have Merc C240. Display is showing Wear of Brake Lining, Visit Workshop. I went to CarX today and he said it wud be 139 for new brake pads and installation. He removed the tyres and said rotors would be replaced, clippers inside pads etc etc. He said rear ones are also gone off almost and they would last only 10000 more miles and then you need new rotors and pads for rear wheel too. He said in all it would be 1034 USD. My car is 2002 and has done only 40000 Miles only. I assume ok pads are gone, but rotors and everything sounds like something strange to me. Can someone guide me what to do. I checked the existing brake pads. The pads had 2 MM stuff on them before it hits the metal to metal.

regards
Rohit

You can resurface the rotors instead of changing the rotors. Not familiar with CarX, but it's good to go to several shops to check.

I don't quite follow your post....but....

Sounds like you need front pads and rotors replaced now and the rears in 10k miles. 10k miles may be 6-12 months, why do it 10k miles early.

Replace the fronts now and the rears down the road. No worries. It should cost you maybe $500 to do pads and rotors on the front out the door. This is a MB not a Nissan PU!
