DON'T CHANGE YOUR ALTERNATOR, JUST BUY THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR FOR THE ALTERNATOR. IT IS A REALLY SMALL PIECE ON THE BACK OF THE ALTERNATOR.

2004 C230 kompressor, Voltage Regulator, Where is it located. I looked at the back of the alternator and the plug goes directly into the alternator, am I not seeing something?

It has been awhile since I have done this work. Unplug the wires and there should be a little plastic cover that has to be removed. Maybe with a Philips head screw driver and once that is removed you will see the voltage regulator. It has 3 bigger screws in it. U can't miss it. Hope you find it.

yes it could cause the idle to mess up i believe.
It messing with the entire computer system so I would have the Alternator looked at.
If you take it to AutoZone they can do a read out for you.
If the alternator and battery seem fine then its the voltage regulator.
Should fix all your issues.

yes there is a small plastic cover right beside the plug that can be removed. they are small screws. once you remove that plastic cover the voltage regulator is right there.. It is also has small screws on it. really easy to replace.

Unhappy 2005 ML 350 Battery Light Flashing on and off.

About a month ago, had to replace Crank Posn. sensor. Also got go to service on the radio. Now I have flashing battery light on dash and every now and then gauge needles drop to zero then come back on. Check voltage at battery and would fluctuate from 12.6 to 14.6 about every few seconds. Changed battery and had alternator checked at Autozone. Alternator tested OK - PASSED. Other places talk about aux battery, but, was not able to find it where they said it was. I could use help. Only had this vehicle <6 mos (bought used with 60,000 + miles).

Hi, my c class 220 cdi coupe 2002 has refused to start intermittently for 7 months , and now happening every week. Today .... battery/ alternator visit workshop, brake assist not available, under vaultage consumer detected, esp not available all came on the car died of power whilst driving , power steering went.......so i managed to get it home, then it refused to start , but does start on a jump start, but still has all the malfunctions. Do you think this is due to the alternator or the Alternator regulator, Kindest Regards :-)

Hello.
My name is Cristian , i am from Romania and I own a C180 Sport Coupe 2001 with 210.000km.
A few days ago "undervoltage consumer defective" was shown on my display.
The deffective part that was responsable for this, voltage regulator. The component was changed. Everything was ok 14.28 and on load 13.81.
But , after a few minutes Battery/ Alternator visit workshop error appeared.
I went to an electrical specialist and everything seems to be ok. Battery status - very good, alternator status - very good.
Went to another workshop, and the same. Everything is normal. works well as it shoud but error is still there.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
Thank you
PS.
Excuse poor language.

I'm at wits end also. My alternator/battery light on and it's charging 12.1V so I know I have a charging issue. I replaced the voltage regulator and now with engine not running I'm getting 12.8V, 14.0 at idle and 14.1 at 2000 rpm. If I turn everything on (headlights, heater blower on high and rear defroster) I get a fluctuation between 14.0 and 13.9v which I find completely normal. The light comes on about 5 seconds after start and stays on although still charging at 14.0V.
My battery is 2 months new, alternator pulley was replaced about 10k miles ago, the car has 130+k miles, no fault codes.
Anyone have any ideas please chime in, thank you.
