Alternator warning light won't turn off
The alternator warning light on my 2005 C230K came on. After trouble shooting, the alternator was not charging, so rather than replacing the voltage regulator, I decided to replace the alternator.
The new alternator charges fine. The battery checks out OK. Even so, to eliminate variables, we replaced the battery with a new one. Voltages are OK (13.7V).
Yet the light will not turn off. We tried resetting various times to no avail. The code we keep getting is P2062-002.
Any ideas on why the warning light will not turn off? Does the light reflect actual charging current, or does it just track voltage.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.... and the plot thickens.
Perhaps you can elaborate as to which wire? When we replaced the battery, we certainly checked the terminals and the battery cables. No issue.
As I said, we replaced the battery with a new one. Still the warning light will not go off. Starts fine, charges fine.
Code P2062-002. Current and stored.
I keep looking for ideas.... we even tried a different tester to eliminate the possibility to might be the tool.
Thank you again for the suggestion.

I'm at wits end also. My alternator/battery light on and it's charging 12.1V so I know I have a charging issue. I replaced the voltage regulator and now with engine not running I'm getting 12.8V, 14.0 at idle and 14.1 at 2000 rpm. If I turn everything on (headlights, heater blower on high and rear defroster) I get a fluctuation between 14.0 and 13.9v which I find completely normal. The light comes on about 5 seconds after start and stays on although still charging at 14.0V.
Anyone have any ideas please chime in, thank you.
