Default Aftermarket shift ****? (C230)

I just purchased a C230 automatic and the oem shift **** is peeling. I would like to replace it with a nice aftermarket piece. I've watched videos on how to remove the leather wrap and bezel/shift **** assembly. But I'm wondering if there is a tutorial or somehow you can add on a nice aftermarket **** that will allow the leather shroud piece to still look factory?

I wish I had the money for a custom shift ****. I like making things work so I took apart the stock (peeling) **** and ground down the inner plastic insert. I then purchased a $15 billet shift **** from Autozone and epoxied the plastic insert into it. With a few other mods I've got a slick looking setup. I'm going to have to replace the shift boot and trim bezel eventually but all in time.

I'll post some pics when I'm done and can show it.

Here is my $15 Autozone billet shifter. As you can see, even thought I got the oem insert epoxied into this shifter for a positive fit, there is not enough length to attach the boot to it. Oh well, that's not a big deal I suppose. Next time I'll buy one that's an inch longer so it'll stretch and fit onto the oem boot. I'm still going to look into trying to remove the oem shifter boot and glue on an aftermarket unit. But I have to replace the chrome bezel trim anyways since the clips that hold it in have snapped as most tend to do, or so I've heard.
