Default Adding speakers to the rear shelf - 2005 Sedan

I am thining of adding a couple of speakers to the rear shelf in my 2005 C-Sedan. The Optional Bose system comes with the additional speaker on the back window shelf and looking at the displayed car in the show room, it all seems like a very easy snap on since the holes are already there. My question is has anyone attempted this? Is the car prewired for these speakers, and would the wires be hidden somewhere? My previous car (Honda) was prewired for all speakers and the speaker wires not used were tucked away....

I don't think it will work. Bose speaker connections are 1 ohm and every other speaker brand needs a 4 or 8 ohm connection. If you have Bose speakers, it may work. Otherwise, forget about it. You'll get sound, but it will be mildly to extremely distorted with drastically reduced dynamic range. In other words, it will sound like ****.

The only thing you can do with a Bose system is listen to it as is or remove it entirely. On some Bose head units that use an external amp, you can bypass the Bose amp and connect your own amp to the head unit, then connect speakers to that.

If you're unhappy with a Bose system, don't mess around with it. Throw it away and get something real.

I don't have the optinal Bose Stereo in my 2005 C-230, but the standard MB stereo, in other words I only have the 6 speaker unit and missing the rear shelf speakers that are inculded with the optional Bose system.

Oh, I misread your post. If you just want to add full range speakers it should work okay. I don't think it will add much to the sound, though.

I don't know about unused wires. It would surprise me if MB put them in there. It surprises me that Honda did.

Do you happen to know what size speakers fit the rear shelf?

A rear sub came standard in 2001 even with the non-bose stereo. It tends to rattle esp the lid of the first aid box but I think they took out the box and the woofer in later models.
Just FYI
