about to buy C230K.. couple of questions
My first MB! I'm wondering if any of these last minute "options" are worth the extra price. I'm buying a black 2004 with low miles and starmarked.
Simoniz Paint System -$600
SafeGuard Vehicle Film for hood and bumper-$700
Road hazard for tires and wheels five years - $700
LoJack- $700
2 year extended coverage - $2000.
of course added up this is quite a chunk of change. I was leaning towards just the Road Hazard since i'm in NE and plenty of potholes, etc. Any opinions or thoughts on these appreciated!!
one other thing.. can I hook up iPod to these year/model does anyone know??
THANKS

Oh great.. the one option i was leaning towards C280Wizard you say NO twice!..lol
Being that i'll be driving in New York City which is filled with potholes and they're 17in alum wheels, you don't think it makes sense? It's a five year transferable warranty for wheels and tires. Potholes, glass, nails, blowouts, etc. will be repaired or replaced, zero deductible. Supposedly the company is changing the policy next Month to cap the claims but right now it's unlimited. My main concern was the rims and potholes. How easy is it to bend or damage the wheels?
For the extended warranty, I'm not sure if it's Starmarked. It says 'Mercedes Certified Extension'... 1 yr is $1500, 2yr is $2000. Seems high to me. I'm figuring if by 2009 everything better be fixed on it!
and KAAN, you can look at http://www.simonizusa.com/ to see what the hell simoniz System 5 Paint sealant is. I'm not going for that.
Thanks for input. I'm excited and looking forward to the car and just want to equip it right with right coverage.

That Simoniz Paint System is just a wax job. It's a decent one, but that's all it is. I bet you need to renew the protection every six months just like you would for wax you can buy for $10. In fact, twice a year treatment with $10 wax will protect the paint just as good as the $600 job with bi-annual follow up treatments.
You can buy four new tires for $700. It's pocket change to get a flat fixed. I think I've had two flats fixed in my whole life and I'm not young anymore. If you need tires because of normal wear within five years you probably lose the remaining warranty value.
I wouldn't worry about the wheels. If you bend them seriously, which would be abnormal, you can sue the city/county/state for replacement costs in small claims court. If you bend a wheel in a pothole, you're going to have other damage as well. It will probably tear your front end suspension apart. Sue for that too.
The extended warranty will make you feel warm and fuzzy until you try to get something repaired. What you'll discover is that it doesn't cover anything. Best to keep your $2,000 and use it to pay for repairs instead of spending the $2000 now and having to pay for repairs anyway.

Simoniz Paint System -$600-SKIP IT!!! NOT WOrth the Extra Cash for a Heavy coat of WAX.... The dealership on another car I owned tried to sell me on something similar...it is a waste of Money!!!
2 year extended coverage - $2000-ABSOLUTELY SKIP!!! I purchased it on another car I owned and I gave up the car at 30,000 miles and I am still waiting for the $$$$ to be refunded for the dealer. I covers almost nothing

Hey all, thanks for responses.. appreciate it during this transaction period which is all new to me.
So consensus seems to be NO on Road Hazard, which is the only one i was really leaning towards. It was more the rims I was worried about and not tire repairs but I guess that's probably not such an issue.
and YES on the SafeGuard Film but to get it not at the dealer. Is the film obvious on Black cars?
and RockSolid, yeah I have original maintenance and warranty tilll end of 2008 and then one year starmarked to 2009. And since i really don't put many miles on (i'm in nyc) i won't be hitting the 50,000 mark (the car only has 5,000 on it now)

you may end up selling your car b4 2009 so i wouldnt worry bout that insurance/extra warranty thing.
And rims, i run 18s with low profile tires and pritty much no suspension travel and still dont have any problems with rims, just make sure you swur any massive potholes, any good driver paying attention should, but if your a crap driver and cant swurve **** then maby it mite be an option
