I have an a/c problem! Had system charged and it cools great for about 5 mins. after starting car, then compressor shuts off and will not restart until car is switched off then restarted. I pulled the code from the climate control unit and got a 459 which is (instrument cluster/emergency compressor off)! Is this an easy fix or does something need replacement? Oh yeah; car is a 1999 C43 AMG! One other thing, the phenumatic seats don't work, panic feature will not work although led flashes on remote when panic button is pressed, and lastly the foglamps do not come on when exiting the car! I know its alot but I wanted to give you a complete synopsis since these symptoms may be related! Thanks in advance for your help!!

Who charged the system? An MB trained mechanic? Did they check for leaks first? If there was a leak (and there should be if the systems was low), enough may have now leaked out againthat there is justenough in the system to allow to start cooling for a bit, but it is so low that the low refrigerant auto-shutdown safety featurekicks in after 5 minutes.

Thanks, but no it's not low in freon. System had never been charged and it's a 99. This is something to do with the cutout feature of the compressor! Sure wish someone could point me in the right direction since I have the code.

Do the fog lamps turn on normally. If they don't I would check the fuse first then the bulb, if they are ok look for moisture in the lamps. Ifall the abovechecks ok you may have corroded contacts at the leads going into the .lamps.
You did not say if the alarm works fine but just the panic does not. Note that the LED on the remote is just a battery state indicator. If the siren does not work either it is shot or the fuse in the trunk is blown.
I know there is a relay in the trunk that controls the seat adjustment not sure if it also works for the penumatics.
