2007 C230 P0016 Code
Hi Guys,
I'm getting the P0016 Crankshaft position correlation - Bank 1 Sensor A error and the engine is running rough but doesn't stall. The engine number is 272920 30 601578 which if I understand correctly is after MB fixed the balance shaft sprocket material problem. It has 109K miles on it. I did the test and have attached the below pictures in which the stamps look off center to me. My question is: is there any other cause for the camshaft getting out of alignment other than the balance shaft sprocket teeth being chewed up. Or put another way, some cause that doesn't require pulling the engine. Given this engine is after the fix, could it be a problem with the timing chain being stretched or tensioner gone out? If so, is that likely or a long shot?
Thanks

Something that may or may not be relevant. It was throwing a P0305 (misfire cylinder 5) code. I changed the spark plugs (Autolites instead of Bosch) The P0305 code didn't come back but the above P0016 showed up. It was running rough before the spark plug change also. I'm going to try to remove the coil packs 1 by 1. As I remove each it should make it run rougher. If I find removing one doesn't have an affect, that might tell me it is a spark plug or coil pack on the cylinder. Long shot but something....
