Default 2007 280c low speed shudder in turns

Hello all. Great forum here!
I have a 2007 280c 4 matic. Great condition, 133k miles. It's a great car with just one issue. In low speed turns, going forward or in reverse, you can feel and hear a low speed shudder or vibration. It is worse in reverse, where a clacking sound can be heard.
My best guess is the transfer case. Anyone know what the best option is? I see that there are used ones available everywhere for $300-500, but most have higher mileage than mine. A reman seems to be around $2800. Ouch. I'm pretty handy and plan to do it myself. I have a friend who has rebuilt quite a few truck transfer cases. Anyone ever find a rebuild kit? Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Before you spend any money, try pulling the codes off the DME; this way you can be certain of where the issue is coming from. Just my 2 cents..

I don't have any warning lights on the dash, could there be codes anyway? Thanks!

There could likely be stored codes.
