Default 2006 C230 questions

I brought home a 2006 C230 for the weekend. I was in the market for a 2007 G35 and really liked how this drove but there was no power. Thats OK though as I spend much time in traffic.

My questions are:

Sorry - hit enter

I researched to page 140 on this site in hopes of finding anwers but I am requesting assistance.

QUESTIONS
Is the trans a 6 speed or 7 speed auto? I have read both and I am not sure.

Is the trans a week point?

I read the radiator is prone to failure, has this occured to many?

Do the front end bushings fail as often as I read about? I expected front ends to last like my old Volvos, 200 - 300 K

Is the MAF still a problem on the 2006 C230? Any other mechinccal or electrical problem other than the crank sensor?

What mpg can I expect driving it like an adult?

What were the options packages?

And finally, is a black on tan with 11,000 miles worth 27,000? I have read where they were new at 31K and this is two (2) years old.

Thanks!

Erik

you can tell if you have a 7 speed by pushing the shifter lever left and right, when going upshift does it go to 6 then D if do you have a 7 speed. they are either 5 speed or 7 speed unless you have a stick shift then its a 6 speed.

Thanks!

Anything I should be aware of with these? Will the drivetrain last 200 - 300 K?

Erik,
The '06 (which I have too) has a new V6 for this model and a new 7 speed automatic. So asking
the forum if it will last 300k miles is not likely to receive anything other than a speculative answer.

This is not your "Daddy's Mercedes Benz" these are high tech cars and typically the electronics are expected to be more prone to failures than the purely mechanical bits. For that reason I do not know if I would recommend a German Luxury car for someone looking to put 200k - 300k miles on a car.
For that type of mileage the best solution is the SIMPLEST car - not a high performance German luxury car.

For example my other car is a 1997 Mazda Miata. It is 10 years old and at 130k miles and running strong. It is extremely basic and simple and will likely go to 200k without much issue. I do not expect that from the technological marvel that is this C230 Sport - too much to go wrong at too great a replacement cost.

-Eric
