Default 2005 C230K w/ 141,000 miles still going strong

Still getting about 27-28mpg in the city driving normally and can get 33+ on the freeway holding it at 65mph on a level road,
no passing or zipping around anybody. Not bad. Since it turned 100K, there have been hardly any problems at all. I did change
the tranny fluid as many of you might remember, and I change oil myself (Mobil 1), fuel filter, etc. and I'm good to go. I hope.

How to get great mileage from these cars? Easy. Keep the tires inflated properly, maintain the car properly, use premium gas
as you are required to, keep a clean air filter in the thing, and most importantly, drive smoothly and steadily and brake smoothly.
That's right. You can save more gas by adjusting your driving habits than any gizmo or trick anybody has come up with yet.
I drive exactly 65mph, center lane, cruise control on, and I'm not on and off the gas like crazy. SMOOTH driving saves you $$$$$.

141,000 Miles on a 2005!! Thats a lot of driving. How far is your commute to work? Getting 33mpg is insaine for a car like that. How long are you going to run it for? I bet you will 200k easy. These cars last forever.

My commute is 100 miles a day, then you add extra driving around on top of that, and the miles add up. Good thing I don't drive a gas hog, huh? I'm keeping the car until the wheels fall off. The car looks pretty new and runs just as good as a new one. 95% of the miles are freeway miles, so I don't buy too many brake pads and rotors. Second set now. Lots of junk flying up from the freeway though, and I'm on my third windshield from rocks, etc.

I'm goin' to 200,000!!!!!!! (or more)

That remines me of sons girlfriend whos drives 100 miles round trip to college classes. She is the only person I ever knew that had a new car with over 50,000 miles on it for the first year. Thats amazing that it runs that good for that much driving. Is it your first Mercedes? Only a second set of pads and rotors that amazing for the miles on it.

Driving the way I do on the freeway at a steady speed, I don't use the brakes very much. Yes, this is my first Mercedes.
I had a BMW 3-series (a '98) before this car, and I swore I would never buy another one. Long story, but let me just put it
this way.....VERY bad customer service when I started to have problems. And that wasn't just one stealership either. It was all the local dealers. Oddly enough, my '98 Viper is still the most dependable and easiest car to work on. Try buying an oil filter
for your C230K at the local auto parts store. Viper takes V6 Dodge filter. Four bucks on sale. Bingo. Buy the Mobil 1 at COSTCO with a coupon now for $9 off per case of six, and do it yourself. Been to the Mercedes dealership lately for an oil and filter
change? Now you know where those expensive plants in the showroom and the free coffee come from.

You have a Dodge Viper also? What color? Do you have upgrades or just keep it stock? Do you drive it on your 100miles commute to work?

Yes, my Viper is a red 98 GTS I bought new back when the stock market was flying high and I had made a few extra bucks
on a job I did and figured......hey.........might as well get something I like now, so I did. It's been a great car. Only 11K miles on it and yes, it's modified....of course! I can't leave anything alone! I've been a hot rodder all my life, so modifications just come naturally. I think it's a curse you can't shake. Anyway, they are "different" to say the least, all being V-10s, but when you get used to it, it's OK. NO COMMUTING in that car! Freeways here are like bumper cars at the State Fair. And the junk on the roadways here is horrible. OOPS!.....there goes my front spoiler! Not going to let that happen. My other beast is
a 1966 Mustang fastback with a GMC supercharged Boss 302....Corvette red, blacked out trim, low to the ground, four speed, lots of lightening and fiberglass, ORIGINAL owner (yep, you read that right) car. Street car and not a race car. Been there, did that. Don't want to spend my weekends and nights under the car anymore, thank you. Just a street cruiser with a ton of power. Most people love this car when they see it....moreso than the Viper. Ha! but it's true.

So, this may explain why when I respond to questions, etc. on this forum, I am not really drawing upon too much Mercedes
knowledge as such, but years of tinkering, modifying, and hot rodding and general engine building and tweaking. As you know, sometimes things come out of common sense. And mistakes! Ha!

wow that mustang sounds like one hell of a car with a GMC supercharger I have never herd of that. I had an older Mustang 5.0. Iloved it but I had todumb it due to the many many issues. It was fast when it wasnt in the shop.I figured you did something to the viper since most people cant resist to hook up something like that.So you have the C230, Viper and a Mustang? One of those carsalone is some real weekend fun. Im looking to get back into a sports car sometime. Just not now because of no room and two children living home. Hopefully something like my 600SL I use to have or maybe a Viper

Oh well, that didn't work. Tried to "imbed" the photo in the post, but it didn't work.

Gotta click on the little camera underneath my name, then look for mustang jpg and click on that.

There it is.

Sorry if you aren't into this kind of thing.[:@]
