I have a 2001 C240 and have begun to notice that regardless of where I ask the air conditioning to blow the air (screen, feet etc) it seems to dump 80% of it out through the passenger footwell, freezing the passengers feet (great for carrying beer home tho!).

I have read on some other sites that this might be down to a valve behind the dashboard and that the whole dashboard has to be removed to correct it (sounds really expensive)... Has anyone experienced this before or know of a solution?

 

when you first start the car do you hear any clicking type noises from behind the dash? ther are several motors behind the dash that move air flap doors to direct the air where you want it to go...there are plastic linkages attached to these motors that break...

 

No clicking noises when I start the car.... could it be something else?
