Talking 1997-C280 Bad Windshield Wiper Motor

Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to replace the windshield wiper motor? About how expensive is the motor?

Are you sure the motor is bad? It could just by dry and need lube. You can lube the shaft of the arm and then you might find that thats all it needed, your car is prone to this problem

How do you get to the area that needs lubrication? Does the black cover just snap off?

Yeah its not the very bottom part but the long plastic piece, you can pry up on the bottom of it and it will then pop up or depending on the wiper you will slide the plastic piece down so it pops out of the top then pull it off, then you can pull off the plastic piece then youll see a metal rod or shock thing you want to lube that. Its best to put the wiper partially up pointing toward the top left of the windshield cause thats when the rod is fully extended so you can lube the whole length of the rod... Or piston i should call it...THIS LUBING OF THE PISTON WILL HELP IF YOU HAVE THE WIPER ARM STOPPING ON THE WINDSHIELD WHILE ITS WORKING. IF YOU GET NO MOVEMENT OF THE WIPER ARM AT ALL THEN MAYBE THE SCREW CAME LOOSE ON THE MOTOR AND ALL YOULL NEED TO DO IS TIGHTEN IT AND THEN YOULL BE OK. OR THE SWITCH ITSELF GOES BAD. USUALLY WILL OPERATE INTERMITANTLY AND YOU CAN GET IT TO WORK BY PLAYING WITH THE SWITCH.

The cast arm attached to the back of the motor is broken right at the edge of the motor. I am trying to locate the arm only at this point. Thanks for your help.
