I have a 1995 C220 saloon. The problem I have is that I had the head re-skimmed about a year ago. Then it started running badly. My local specialist has recently replaced a sensor wire at the back of the engine which has made a huge improvement. I wondered if there is anything else that can be done. I understand that some of these engine cleaning fluid claim to reduce irratic idlling.
It only occurs when staionary, when the car is idling between 500 and 700 rpm, it will suddenly kick up to approx 900 rpm and then drop back down to 400 rpm before settling itself. Beacuase it is an auto it means you have to put yor foot on the brake quite hard when stationary to stop the car lurching forward.
Any suggestions greatly received.
