1006 C280 mirror turnsignal lamp intermittent
The drivers side door mirror turn signal lamp does not work all the time. Usual after a car wash it stops working for a day or so. It is getting worse. I discovered yesterday that it will work for a few seconds if I run the drivers door electric window down. It is not just the dash panel error message that goes away the mirror signal lamp actually starts blinking. Sounds like a bad connection some where in the door/mirror assembly. How do I get into the mirror housing to check the seating of the LED array and the connectors. I have been told that the mirror covers come off, but can not figure out how to do it, there are no visible fasteners.

dcj,
If you just tilt the mirror up as far as it will go, right under the mirrior (between the mirror and assembly) there is a tab. Gently take a flat head screwdriver and gently press the head down. The assembly shold come out. This was done with my 2001 S500. Good Luck!

Thanks Applejay!! Very good little movie on how to do the s-class mirror turn signal removal.
The 2006 C-280 is not made that way. There is no clip under the mirror. I need help, the dealer wants $200 to change the bulb!!!
Is there anyone out there that knows how to remove the turn signal lamp from the drivers side door mirror of a 2006 C-280???
Thank You,
dcj

I also have a problem with repeater signal lamp in the mirror. The warning message came on telling me that the driver's signal was not working for a couple of weeks before the LEDs in the mirror actually did not work. I then noticed that if the mirrors were folded in the LEDs flashed when I locked the car. This stopped after a few days, but it made me think that the LEDs were OK and that the fault could be in the wiring. I could not see ow to remove the mirror shell, so left it until the car went in for servicing. The mechanic reported that the signal was not working, and diagnosed broken wiring. They would not repair, but quoted me £295 (about $475) to replace the whole unit (too expensive for me!). Fortunately he agreed to show me how to remove the outer shell and suggested that I could splice in some new wiring.

Now, can anyone help me with the wiring replacement?
