Default '06+ C230 Owners Speak Up!

Now that we are over a year into the '06+ C230's with the V6 engine and 7 Speed Automagic Transmission lets hear how these cars are holding up compared to the Internet Horror Stories of the early 2000's C Class.

I would like to get a feel for whether or not MB has resolved the various nagging issues on the C Class!

My 2006 has 7000 miles on it and not a single problem to date.

Don't know if I fit into the category or not but I've got an 06 C350 with a little over 20K miles. No issues, still looks and smells like its on the showroom floor.

Hi everybody,

I'm glad you started this post because I'm about to buy a new 07 C230.
I'mkeeping the CLK in the photo, but I don't want two CLKs.
I actually have a need for the smaller C230, and I think the styling is fanatastic.

For simplicity sake, I'm considering the manual tranny. Any comment?

Has anyone seen the 08? I could wait on the 08, and special order that "blue" they always talk me out of.

Not sure what Blue you are refering to? I have the Granite Grey and it is (IMO) FANTASTIC. I purchased the Ash interior and in retrospect that is a great decision for a meticulous adult who drives alone and removes his shoes when entering the vehicle! I swear if my kids (11 and 6) come with 20 feet of the automobile I need to clean the interior. So - the Ash looks great but the Charcoal would have been the ticket with kids. I would opt for a Manual Transmission ANY TIME it is possible. They almost never fail. I had one in both my BMW's I had prior to the C230. But the Automagic was part of the "negotiation" with my wife that made the new car happen! I really do not mind it - it is pretty slick - the 7 speed - and I can shift my Miata to my hearts delight.

I hope we get more data points on the '06 - '07 reliability.

Does the 07 C class use the OBD2 system? I just bought the HHT for my CLK; It would nice if I could use it to diagnose the C230 as well.

i believe all cars 96 and up uses the OBDII system. i just bout a 07 about a month ago and about 1500 miles on it. no problem what so ever at the time. i don't know if its just mine or when i ever do a cold start up, the car shakes for about 5-10 secs then goes away. other than that nothing. about to scedule my free first check up with service.
