Default '05 C230 Kompressor - shakes at idle

On two occasions my C230K has shook as I decelerated at a light as if it were going to die. It never did. After that, it would not accelerate well. Once the engine was shut off (while we ran our errands) the car ran fine. My buddy hooked it up to his computer and it spit out a code for a mis-fire and emission problem. I can smell rotten egg or sulfur like smell. He is not a MB guy....

Any input is appreciated..

I have an 06 C230 and my ignition coil went out on cylinder 1 according to the MB dealer. Got it fixed and then they upgraded the software package for the transmission and engine. Mine was running rough too. engine light came on and then when I drove it again later it didn't and didn't seem to be bad but took it in anyway. Hope this helps. less than 300 for the coil, but the software is a bit more not much tho.

Red face

Three clues: the poor acceleration, the rotten egg smell, and the emission code tell me it could be the catalytic converter. When they go, those are the exact symptoms. Don't replace it without checking first, though. Just a thought.

Default Catalytic Converter $$

Do you have to go with OEM cat?? Criminy...it is $995..before labor.

Can't really afford that right now....

Any suggestions where to go???

I'm not an expert on cars but my 98 C280 started shaking when i stopped at a stoplight and after that it would be rough riding. Had a mech specializing in Mercedes take a look at it and said the computer spit out mis-fire code as well. He says its the ignition wires (spark plug wires) and ignition coil. I'm getting it fixed by next week, hopefully that'll do the trick.

I can't comment on your emission problem though, I've no clue what that is.
