'03 C240 Problems!
Hi! I have a 2003 C240--I love the car, but it seems like there is ALWAYS something wrong with it!!! About 6 months ago, my battery died. I called Mercedes Roadside, and they came to "jump" it for me...they also wanted to sell me a $200 battery, so I opted to go to the local shop and get one for about half the price. Well, once the new battery was in, I realized it was now the alternator--changed that one out as well. Everything seemed to have been fixed...until about a month later. It was raining bad (that's when everything starts to "fail"). My "check battery/alternator" light keeps coming up on the display...I know both are fine (and why did it take the light a month to come up?) and now my SRS light is on as well...ugh! I used to freak out every time a notice came up on the display, but now I tend to ignore them! They come and go...sometimes it's "check coolant level"...well, that's good too (it's sporadic). I would like to get rid of the "check battery" annoucement and also the SRS...any help would be greatly appreciated! I prefer to not take it to the dealership (since they think they can take advantage of me for being a girl).
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yep, anything purchased from the dealer (or Merc roadside) is going to be more expensive no doubt. Sounds like you may have multiple issues going on and one or more may be intermittent.
Not sure where you are, but if in the US you can go to an auto parts chain and they will pull codes for no charge. Get the printout (or ALL the code info if non-printer model) and post the results here.
I have 3 friends who have C240's and 2 of them have been virtually flawless and the third has been a bit more work to keep in check. But before you decide your C240 is a problem child, lets see if you can't get her a clean bill of health first.
