I have had my 2002 c240 for about 18 months. Since I commute 200 miles a day, it is out of warranty. The CD changer stopped working about a month ago. I took it in for the 60,000 mile service and asked them to check the CD changer. They are telling me a refurbished replacement will cost $374 - more than it cost new! Does anyone know if there are compatible changers for less out there I can buy from a Best Buy or independent stereo outlet? It's annoying that in 18 months I need a new CD changer.

not to my knowledge will anything else work except the mercedes benz unit due to Mercedes fiber optic system. Your not alone with changer problems if that makes you feel any better!! Very common unfortunately

Actually, Im prettuy sure you can find converters from the fiber-optic to the standard pin-connector. I saw some on ebay a while ago. (this is ebay UK tho, dunno about us..) You could try that, it would be a cheaper option.
