I have a friend who recently purchased a 2003 SL55 and he has had problems with a percolating/vibrating sound coming from the fuel tank from the first day. It's almost like a persistent rattling/bubbling sound that you can hear quite well from the rearwhile sitting inside the car. Mercedes has been unable to fix the problem. </P>


Has anyone else experienced this problem with the fuel tank? Any suggestions on some articles which talk about this problem? Thanks for the help!</P>

 

yes ive came across that problem before, there was no fix for it before, but i can check and see if there is any new information on whether they have a fix or not

 

I dont know if what I experienced is related to your condition but I had a Sl55 and there was a noise coming from the fuel tank. It was strange noise like something was loose inside floating around. it was a baffle that becomes dislodged inside the tank. The tank must be replaced, there is no other solution. Hope that helps.
