problem with 2003sl55 modified
Hello I am new here to this forum , I purchase a 2003 sl55 amg with some mods, body kit wheels, kleemen exhaust, headers, and a tricked out ecu. The first week I drove the car it was amazing , The car felt just as fast as my 700 rwhp supra single turbo car, then all the sudden the cars super charger started shutting off. I took the car into a local dealer and he told me that the car was modified , and also had a larger pully on the car and that it was one of the fastest sl55s he has ever driven. But due to the after market parts on the car I should be carful with the car due to it still having extended mb warr. He told me that it was prob the transmission going out and I should be carful. The car still pulls very hard never slipping , so I cant believe the cars tranny is slipping. I live in tucson arizona and all the shops that work on modified cars will not touch this car, due to there limited knowledge. I need help bought the car used for $97,000 have had it for 4 months and would like to enjoy the car. Has anyone here had a similar problem or could someone recommend a solution. abunims@aol.com thanks Jeff

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR ECU PROGRAMMING OR A TRANSMISSION PROBLEM! the problem is well documented and is your intercooler pump intermittently failing. the problem with intermittent failure is that it won't throw a code for mb to diagnose. the pre '06 pumpsgo out all the time and when they do, the intake air temp (iat) rises. when the iat gets abovea certain temp, the ecu shuts off the supercharger to save the motor from detonation. it'sa simple fix by replacing the pump with the newer version and although a larger pulley can raise iat,it reallyhas NOTHING to do with your upgrades. if your tucson dealer is that ignorant (which most are) get it up to schumacher mb in scottsdale and ask for eric. i've discussed many of the intricacies of these cars with him and he'll know exactly what's going on once you explain the symptoms.
