Default HELP S55 Intermittent ESP Warning

I am the new owner of a 2002 S55 AMG that has only done 45K and normally runs like a dream, however over the past two months on 2 occasions I have had a ESP Warning light come up and the car has shut down to a reduced speed and displays VISIT WORKSHOP warning. On restarting the car the warning reset and the car ran like a dream again.
On the first time this happened I pulled over stopped the car removed the key and restarted the car after five minutes and the warning went away and the car ran like a dream again.
On the second occasion this happened it was after a long run and a brief stop, on restarting the car the orange engine shaped warning light came on and the engine revs kept climbing to above 3000 rpm at this point I turned the engine off.
I restarted the car, travelled about half a mile and the ESP WARNING came up. I pulled over stopped the car removed the key and restarted the car again after five minutes, when the car started the engine revs kept climbing to above 3000 rpm at this point I turned the engine off again. On restarting the car after another five minutes the warning went away and the car ran like a dream again.
Has anyone any Idea what this could be?
What can I check?
Thanks

Try this

1. Reset ESP To reset it you start the car do full left then full right, do it twice or three times , turn of the car then start.

2. Try Check you Battery,or does you car supports with a backup battery? If so, replace it...

I forgot to inform you if those above dosent work,

Replace the Mass air flow sensor (MAF) loacated after the air filter going into the throttle body. Since I notice when you kinda have these kind of problem while driving and get back to normal after swtich off engine and restart the car.

Good luck!!

Had the codes read today and got a P0221 and P2121

Accelerator pedal and pedal position sensor, so I guess its not the MAF. Do I need to check or change anything??
