Anyone else out there with AMG chrome wheels that are peeling (chrome), exposing brass/bronze color underneath?

I've had that happen. But I just purchased the vehicle off a lease. The person who owned the vehicle before me didn't use the brake dust remover properly and let the chemical sit on the wheels too long or didn't rinse them off sufficiently.

If you vehicle is still under warranty, you could possibly swing the service rep to set you up with new wheels. Most of them will hesitate and not allow you (since you or the car wash place probably caused the damage). But if you persist and if you have a good history with the dealership, they can replace them for FREE.

After everything was said and done, I "compensated" the rep for doing the exchange at no cost to me. Just make sure to do the right thing if they exchange them for you. True AMG rims are expensive!

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. I suspected it might be wheel cleaner-related. I've only used Griot Garage's wheel cleaner (a mild one!) once, and rinsed it off right away, per instructions - hope that wasn't the cause!
