took my car to the dragstrip tonight no mods whatsoever and the car did decent.
first run: 12.50 @ 111 mph with 60' of 1.8
2nd run: 14 seconds @ 109 mph (spun the whole 60')
3rd run: 12.68 @ 109 mph with 60' of 1.96
I guess with a small pulley, chip, and a set of MTs drag radial this car could see high 11s?

Cool to see that someone realy like to take the E55 for a ride [8D]
You are correct, new software and/or also a new pulley will improve your numbers. How far down you can get has also some to do with your launch (as mentioned above). I would say do an upgrade in two steps, first only software (check the numbers), then pulley and new software (and check numbers again). I think you would see good improvements in the numbers.
Enjoy the ride

i'm gonna try to leave the traction control on next time and see what happens to the 60', i wished there's other fellow Benz in my area to unwind in the track it's fun. Anyway, i'm not sure how strong the driveline (axles, etc...) of these cars, anyone?

1. esp off, transmission in sport mode, and suspension in comfort.
2. drive around the water box and doa quick 2-3 second dry burnout just to lightly warm and clean the tires.
3. do not bring up the rpms or preload the torque converter by power braking. launch from idle by releasing the brake at the same time as you quickly mashthe pedal (not quite a stomp).
if you can perfect this you'll get your best luanch and 60ft times. our cars don't respond as well when you stall the torque converter. if the track prep is poor, there won't be much you can do to improve the launch except use esp or try again another day...but that just means you get to race again and there's nothing wrong with that.
btw, i completey disagreewith getting an ecu tune by itself (sorry optican), there's not enough hp in it to justify the money. in fact, you don't need an ecu tune until you've gone stage 2 (pulley and headers/exhaust) or higher. if you're going to mod, a pulley should be the first stepas it's the best bang for the buck out there.
