Default Amendment to "lift pump" thread

I got it wrong. The reason the primer and lift weren't working was because the fuel level in the tank was too low (fuel gauge isn't reliable). I put in a couple gallons, and it started. That brings me to the existing problem.that I had noticed before I had the starting problem. When you start the car, it runs but the idle is extremely rough. If you increase the rpms, it smooths out. The warmer the engine gets the smoother it runs. The car runs normally at increased engine speed. I increased the idle so the idle is smooth but idling too fast (no tach so, I don't know how much). Could this be a weak lift pump? When I was thinking I needed to replace the lift pump, I figured that would solve the idling problem. Any ideas? Thanks.

Valve adjustment, compression or injection timing.

Be careful with idle speed. If it goes above 1000rpm it will be uncontrolled and accelerate to maximum speed on its own.
