hello, new person here, my wipers dont work. the car is a 1992 500sl the symptoms are: on position 1 wipers sometimes work, then dont run again after i pull away from some lights. sometimes sweep when i push the stalk, sometimes not. they always work on position 3, and sometimes work on position 2(running then intermittent at a standstill)

could be but is the multi function relay more likely given the symptoms. also could it be a bad earth, i've heard of an earth behind the offside headlamp that can give problems like these, and coincidentally the previous owner has tinkered here? any thoughts
