I am working on a 220s, 1957 style. I am wondering whether it is OK to reuse the asbestos washers on the brake self-adjuster mechanisms, if they are not cracked or broken. They cost about $12 each and there are 16 on the car, so buying new ones is not an attractive idea if they are not needed.

Anyone around with that kind of experience?
