Default Used Help

Hey guys. Im 15 and working all summer to save up for a used car. I should have around $10000 by the end of summer. I was wondering about buying a mercedes but my family has had some in the past with alot of transmission problems(needed 4 new transmissions and wasnt ever 10 years old). Anyways i wanted to get your opinion on what is a reliable mid-late 90's Mercedes that is around $10,000. Thanks

I know this doesn't answer your question, but if I were 15 and had $10K for a car, I would buy an almost-new Honda Civic. It's a reliable car that's cheap to repair. Whenever an MB needs repairs, you'd need a loan to repair it, else you'd have to let it sit and rot and walk.

I don't mean to argue, but a $10K mid-90s MB is going to be small and perform like crap. What do you expect to get in a mid-90s MB for $10K? I owned a Civic at one time and it had more room than my SL600.

Get yourself a Civic or Nissan, Mercedes are expensive to fix also, so wait until you have a good steady income and buy a new Mercedes?

Sounds like you might be more worried about brand name than superiority. To be honest, I’d rather have a top of the line 1 or 2 y.o.Civic/Sentra/Carolla than a beat up, dumpy, 10-15 y.o. MB. Plus, as all the wise elders here have said… you buy the Civic/Sentra/Carolla, all you gotta worry about is gas and oil changes for the next few years.

CLK Sousa is correct, a beat up Mercedes will cost you more in repairs then the a couple of decent newer pre owned Civic, Nissan. You can pick up a nice Acura Intregra preowned for that kind of money. My son bought a 96 in 01 and is has been trouble free for the most part, just the normal wear items. He did replace the clutch. Buth that was the only major repair. As I said save and get a new one someday. Brand is not everything in life. I bought a Mercedes after being a BMW 3 series owner, as I have a very bad back and I drove several different makes and the Mercedes won as it has great comfortable seats and that was the reason I bought it. I also wanted to get a good example of the "box" Benz before they faded into history. BMW seats stink IMHO especially with a bad back.
