Default Transmission service 2006 E-350

So i wanted to change the filter and fluid in my 2006 e350..drained the pan and realized there was no place to add fluid...i guess you put fluid back in the pan? How much fluid? Can anyone tell me?
Thanks!

the trans get filled from the drain hole and it needs to be a certain temperature to make sure the level is correct. if its too cold and you fill with fluid you could end up with too much fluid.if the trans is too hot youll end up with not enough fluid. there is a special machine to fill the trans with fluid. i woild start with 5 quarts, then when the trans heat up to 113 F thats noramlly when you check the level. did you remove the trans pan? because there is a plastic tube that sits into the drain hole. it is crucial that that is installed in the pan.

i started to remove the pan by removing the 2 front and 2 rear bolts. Then I slowly loosened one of the center bolts to see if there was more fluid...as the pan came loose and fluid began to spill out I retightened the bolt and put the ones I had removed back in and test drove it to see if it would drive. I decided that maybe I should take it too the dealer to flush the transmission. Thanks for your reply.

Message for Chassis221. Is there a place you recommend for getting a affordable transmission service around Philadelphia for my 2004 c2404 matic with 44K miles? MB Ft washington is charging me a fortune and they also asked me to change the transfer case fluid which adds anoher couple of hundred to the already expensive tranny service. Thanks.

PS: Do you have your own garage in Philly area?
