I recently purchased a 87 300d turbo. Among other problems- including a clanky idle that is ever-present until acceleration- this car exhibits strange transmission problems. It shifts late and hard from 1-2 and 2-3. The strange part is this: If I floor the pedal I experience a much smoother, often near perfect shift, however this further delays the shift time making the 1-2 shift hapen around 30-35 mph. I know this has something to do with the vacume pump and associated parts but could use a little advice. Thanks ff
