How hard is it? I replaced trans in my 4wd truck last yr. the trans is situated between frame rails like normal rwd cars of past times? I assume tools for truck job and merc job are same?

 

Owner sez car will move while cold. Than once it warms up, it goes to neutral. Local yard has lower mile trans for $400. I have midsize sedan now and this merc wagon model seems like an interesting project.

 

No reason to discourage buying a repairable car if u can do work. Seller cannot do it. Or won't pay a shop to do it. I have replaced 3 trans on 3 cars in 3 yrs. of course I sold them right away. I used and sold 2. 3rd I owned for 10 yrs but decided to move on.
