traffic info in ml 350 navigation system

traffic info in ml 350 navigation system
just want to ask if the navigation system make use of the traffic info when it calculates the route? or it's just for driver information? i got an impression that it doesn't really use the traffic info (it doesn't seem to skip the jammed highway when it figure out the route), just want to know for sure.
