is speed gauge related to tranny

Default is speed gauge related to tranny

i have a 2002 c230 and my speed gauge doesn't work, and as well my transmission want shift out of 1st gear could the problems be related. how do i fix the speed gauge is there a speed sensor some where that need replacing.
i just recently changed out the conductor plate and that didn't fix the problem.

also on my dash i have warnings that comes up ESP, ABS, BAS
i recently changed the breaks and breaks sensors and none of the light went off.

It sounds as if you have a wheel speed sensor problem. This is why your esp/abs lights are on and your speedometer is inoperative. That being said, I have never seen a faulty wheel speed sensor cause the speedometer to malfunction. Is your odometer still working? You need to pull codes to see why those lights are on and while your at it, check the codes in your TCM (transmission control unit). Your shifting issue is probably not related to your inop speedo, but you won't be able to tell unitll you check codes. Possibly you may need a new shift plate in your transmission (which involves removing the valve body).

yes i replaced the shift plate. still same problem. can any one tell me how to reset the codes. i did the battery trick and the break peddle trick as well

Default troubleshooting codes

hello treads need help troubleshooting codes, recently pulled from computer
1st was p0600 which said loss of serial communication link
2nd is p0500 which said deteted a fault in the vehicle speed sensor circuit.

can anyone please help in troubleshooting this problem. thanks in advance.
