SLK350 PROBLEM - ANYBODY HEARD OF THIS?
Hi, I am a new member and wonder if anyone has experienced the problem I am having with my new SLK350. The first time it happened I slowed down to pay my bridge toll and then when I put my foot down the engine stuck at 4000 revs and wouldnt change up. Had to pull over and turn the engine off. I had been driving for about an hour so the car was warmed up. The second time I had just driven out of my garage and on to the road - put my foot down and the same thing happened. Stuck on 4000 revs. My dealer says it doesnt show up on the computer and its still there now having some other tests. Its an auto. Hope someone can shed some light - its less than four months old and only has 4000 km on the dial. Thanks.
Hi Patrick, the rev counter hits about 4000 and wont change up. So I need to drive it at 4000 revs until I can pull over and turn the engine off. It just wont change - taking my foot off the accelerator or planting it does not make any difference and of course the motor is making a hell of a noise. Hope I am explaining myself well enough - I'm afraid that I'm not a car freak - I just love the SLK 350 to drive. Had a SLK320 prior to this. I am really trying to find someone else who may have had the problem as my dealer is scratching his head and of course I'm not happy as it will probably happen again if they dont find the problem. By the way its a 2005 build. Thanks for replying - I hope I can learn something.
your accelerator pedal got a travel sensor inside. it sends signal to the engine control unit on what position you control it.
you think it is giving the wrong value? the wiring to it could get some resistance too and can cause such malfunction.
however, i need to feel the problem before giving definite answer.
