SLK VIN location

I have to get an etching of the VIN of an SLK200 so I can get the car registered. Can anyone tell me an easy place to get the etching from?

never heard of such request from DMV. what state?

in my car, there is another VIN plate under the carpet of the front passenger seat. you can etch that one.
