Default Secret Lights

My 99 C280 has two unexplained lights in the instrument cluster.

One is very apparent, right underneath the fuel gauge's needle hub. It almost seems to be there to indicate low fuel, but of course it is not. I never see it light up. The book never explains.

Another indicator light is more obscured. It is underneath the word MPH. This one reads "LIM". I suppose it comes on when you drive faster than the speed delimited by the DOT or NHTSA.

So far, best to my knowledge, MB neither confirms nor denies the existence of those lights in any written literature.

there are two types and i don't know which one is yours.

underneath the fuel gauge's needle hub
isn't this the low fuel indicator?

your car got cruise control? i only know that "LIM" is on if you set the speed limit.

low fuel indicator is an angled rectangular light, and it is by "0" as in Zero.

the mother****ing unknown secret piece of **** is by the fuel gauge's hub; HUB as in the middle round thing. it is a round light.

also...how come the book makes no mention of LIM if it has to do with cruise control?

yes, my car has cruise control.....the most unfriendly piece of **** i've ever seen in a modern car.

that's because LIM is under variable speed limiter category.

underneath the fuel gauge's needle hub
how does it looks like? round? triangular?

allow me to correct. MB instrument cluster does not say MPH. rather, it says wrongly as MILES.

if you shine a very strong light to it, and open your eyes real wide, you will see a rectangular block with letters LIM underneath the word MILES.

In my car, LIM never lights up even when cruise control is engaged. (may be a dead bulb!)

It sure is crazy...cruise control is dubbed LIM. Still, why the owner's manual makes no mention of it?

For the other light....it never came on either. It is a round thing. Unlike LIM, it's existence is clearly visible under any light condition. It is about 4mm in diameter, and it is located about 1cm south of the "center" of fuel gauge needle.

I am quite surprised that no one has seen it, and I have to described this much.
