Default s500 2002

my car turns on then dies[:@] off only when its cold in the mourning.after a couple of tries it stays on . i dont have any malfunctions .wounce its on it runs fine all day till the mourning is there a sensor for this?

Vehicle Servicing up to date?
Suggest you get the Diagnositic Codes DTC's read even though the MIL/CEL is NOT on. This may give an indication of the issue. If there are none then

Yep, there is an ambient temp sensor as part of the MAF but these are usually VERY reliable.

A few more details might help.
Parked inside / outside.
Starts first and then dies?
How long before dies?
Restarts immediately or with difficulty?
When did the car start doing this?
Mileage / other problems in recent past/current
etc.

Crank Position Sensor does give problems but the usual signature is OK when cold but gives stall when hot / restart problem. CPS doesn't set a code since it degrades due to engine block / under hood temp...but its a possibility as are 1001 other things.

ttop thx for ur reply the car is up to date with service . the cars starts right up but then dies after 1 secound i re start it right away it stats againthe secound later dies off after the 3rd time the car wont respond to the key i have to unplug the batery for 10 sec then i can start car and it stays on this only happends when car is cold usually around 8:00 or earlier when its cold if the car is out ona sunny day i starts right up no prob after the car ounce on it does not turn off runs fine thx

TOOK CAR TO SHOP THEY HAVENT FIXED IT THEY SAY SINCE MY CAR HAS KEYLESS GO AND REGULAR KEY THE COMPUTER GETS CONFUSED HAS ANY ONE HAD THIS PROBLEM

KEYLESS GO AND REGULAR KEY...original equipment or some after market accessory.


Did you take it to an MB main dealer? So what exactly did they do?

First step is to get the DTC's (if any) read.
