hi all, I'm new to the forum, and I need your help, I have a mercedes s500 of 2000, recently had a front shock change Airmatic, everything turned out well, the car was tested by more than 1 hr in road test, in high and low all functions worked perfectly, then prosedi to pressure washer the engine, trying to turn it did something funny, when you rotate the key nothing happened, but to release the motor star, classic problems of conventional ignition switch, car was on for another hour, turn it off and made the mistake of leaving the key in the switch, going 1 hr, try powering it up and nothing happened, the key turns and turns all the lights, but the starter is not moves, check the starter and it works perfectly, my question is, has the s500 any blocking system leave the key in the ignition swich? the shift solenoid in the gearshift steerig lock was removed 1 year ago, for that reason I have tried all positioned himself without success, thanks in advance for your help

 

Sorry you are having this problem. I am experiencubg the same thing with my 2002 S430 as we speak while on vacation. I am retired now but had my on shop for years. I suspect the problem is in the shifter selector switch not seeing the park or neutral position. I have been able to get it to start by moving the shifter back and forward a few times and then the car will turn over and start. I will be checking it out in detail when I get home . Good luck.

 

I have a Mercedes Benz 2000 S430....over 200,000 miles that I got at auction.........battery is reading at 94% and will not turn over to start...is it the alarm system ... the starter or ignition switch ...HELP

 

Hello and welcome to the forum! Are you able to pull any codes? This should give you a good idea of where to start troubleshooting.

 

My brother had this same issue with his Ford F150. He ended installing a toggle switch in his fuse box. Took him forever to figure it out. I hope you find out soon.
